Description

Bank barns attached at right-angles to the east of Preston Patrick Hall. The structure is built of rubble with limestone quoins at the right-hand end, featuring a graduated greenslate roof and a stone ridge. The barns consist of three sections: the left portion is possibly from the 17th century, with a roof raised during the 18th century; the middle section dates to the early 19th century; and the right part is from the later 19th century, which includes an inserted traceried window from the 15th or early 16th century. The left section has three doors and one window with stone or timber lintels, along with a 20th-century loading door above. The central section has six doors, including a winnowing door above, all set in segmental arched openings with dressed stone voussoirs. The right section is gabled and features three openings with timber lintels and an inserted traceried window above. Inside, the central section contains five bays with 19th-century trusses, while the remainder of the interior could not be inspected.
