Description
Natland Mill Beck Farmhouse and the attached cottage is a house that dates back to the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. The building is constructed of limewashed stone rubble and features a graduated greenslate roof, along with three chimneys that have round shafts. It stands two storeys tall, plus attics. The entrance is located on the garden front, which is at right angles to the road, and there are three irregular windows with 19th and 20th century casements, along with a 20th century board door. A gabled dormer is also present.
Inside, the farmhouse showcases exposed oak beams, including a fire beam, and features 17th century panelled doors and a spice cupboard with a carved door bearing the initials W 1677. The living room, which was originally two rooms, has a fireplace with a carved stone surround and later infill, along with 17th century panelling and a moulded cornice. The upper floor includes a beef loft, remnants of a plaster cornice, and a late 18th century panelled door. An attached outbuilding to the south has been converted into flats in the 20th century, while the attached outbuilding to the west is not of interest.
