Description
Helsington Laithes Mill is a mid-19th century snuff mill. It is constructed of slobbered limestone rubble with protruding through stones and limestone quoins. The roof is of graduated green slate with stone ridges, and it features two end chimneys with slate drips. The mill has a boarded door and casement window at ground floor level, an external stone staircase leading to a boarded door on the first floor, and three windows. The interior retains its original water wheel and machinery, which are still in use for grinding snuff.
