Description
Old Mill is a mill built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with tooled and margined quoins and dressings, topped by a stone slate roof and featuring a corniced dressed stone stack. The gabled front has a central boarded door set in a chamfered surround with alternating jambs. On the first floor, there are two part-glazed, part-slatted windows. To the right, there is a later lean-to addition with a cart entrance that has a timber lintel, and an old mounting block is located to its left, with two millstones set in the paving immediately in front of the door. A single-storey section set back to the left includes a window and a boarded door in a chamfered surround. The rear elevation features an external stone stair, with the top step being the re-used sill of a 17th-century window, leading to a boarded door in a chamfered surround. In the right return wall, there is a similar door that provides access to the wheelpit.
