Description
Shankhead Farmhouse and the attached barn, now used as an agricultural store, date from the 17th century and have undergone some alterations. The structure is built of large rubble with heavy quoins and dressings, topped with a stone flag roof. The front features two low storeys and five irregular bays. There is a boarded door in a chamfered surround with a triangular stone lintel on the left, alongside two splayed window openings without joinery, with an inserted lintel below. To the right are two small windows, with the upper one likely having been wood-mullioned. The barn includes a chamfered doorway, while other openings are from the 19th century. There are 19th-century attached buildings to the right that are not of interest, and a continuous outshut at the rear from the same period. Inside, there are two upper cruck trusses that are halved and pegged at the apex with collars, along with two levels of purlins.
