Description
Skellywell Mill is an early to mid-19th century mill designed in an L-plan. It is constructed from whinstone rubble with red sandstone dressings around the doors and windows. The roof is made of graded slate and is hipped at the west end, featuring a sandstone ridge. The openings have been altered since the conversion into a house, and now have single-pane glazing in timber frames.
The mill features an 8-spoke water wheel made entirely of iron, which has a rim drive and was restored during the conversion. Inside, the main drive shaft and drive wheel are still present.
