Description
This is an early 18th century road bridge located at Beattock, carrying what was formerly the main north-south road over the Evan Water. The bridge has been disused since the construction of Thomas Telford’s replacement bridge nearby in 1819. It consists of a single, widened, segmental arch, high above the river level. The bridge is rubble-built with ashlar voussoirs, and it has no parapets. The bridge is listed as Category C(S) due to its poor condition. The statutory address is Evan Bridge, Beattock Village.
