Description

New House is an early to mid-19th century villa located on Parkin Hill in Appleby-in-Westmorland. The villa is roughcast with stone quoins, a band, and a stone plinth. It has a hipped slate roof with deep, overhanging eaves. The building is two storeys high. The central entrance features a panelled door and a rectangular fanlight with tracery, set within a red sandstone architrave. Stone architraves frame two casement windows on the ground floor and three above. A canted bay window projects from the south end, and a lower wing extends from the rear of the south end, featuring three sash windows. The north side of the house has three windows on each floor, with the lower windows extending down to ground level.
