Description
Two houses, built in the early 19th century and subsequently altered. The front is painted render with painted stone dressings and slate roofs. The houses are three storeys high, with a second-floor sill band and a moulded stone cornice gutter. Number 22, on the right-hand side, is of two bays. The windows are late 20th-century top-hung casements with glazing bars. Those on the first and second floors have architraves. On the ground floor of number 20 is a wide window with plain reveals, a projecting sill, and a segmental head. To its left is a four-panel door in a 20th-century timber doorcase, featuring panelled pilasters and a cornice. The four-panel door is accessed by three stone steps. A cart entrance provides access to a passageway on the left-hand side. Number 22 is of one bay. The upper-floor windows have plain reveals and stone sills. The first floor has a sash window with glazing bars, and the second floor a 20th-century casement with glazing bars. The ground floor has a timber canted bay window with sashes lacking glazing bars. The door, at the right of number 22, has a reconstructed timber doorcase including part of a fluted architrave of early to mid 19th-century style. The side walls of the passageway reveal exposed brickwork and a doorway with a round head and moulded imposts.
