Description
Two shops with living accommodation above, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The front is roughcast, with a slate roof that is hipped on the right-hand side. The building is three storeys high. Each shop fronts with a single bay. The upper-floor windows have narrow painted surrounds and projecting sills. Most windows are sash windows without glazing bars, although the first-floor window of No. 19, on the right-hand side, is a 20th-century casement. No. 17 has a 19th-century shop front with three pilasters, a timber fascia, and a cornice. No. 19 has a 20th-century shop front that extends onto the return wall facing Theatre Street, incorporating a doorway across the corner angle. The Theatre Street elevation features blind recesses on the first and second floors. No. 19 is included on the list for its contribution to the wider group value of buildings in the area.
