Description

Greystone House and the adjoining barn are a farmhouse and barn dated 1752, as inscribed above the entrance with the name Robert Dawson. The house is constructed from dressed pink sandstone and features a string course, eaves cornice, and V-jointed quoins. The extension and barn have mixed sandstone rubble walls, all covered by graduated greenslate roofs with cement rendered banded stone chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and consists of two bays, with a right single-bay extension under a common roof and a lower right two-bay barn.

The entrance has an off-centre 20th-century panelled door with an overlight in a chamfered stone surround. The house has 20th-century plastic casement windows set in original chamfered stone surrounds, while the extension features 20th-century plastic casement windows in red sandstone surrounds. The barn includes slit vents on two levels and a left plank door in a stone surround, with a tall upper-floor window nearest to the house. The rear of the house has a late 18th-century outshut, and the rear of the barn features an enlarged 20th-century garage door, partly within a blocked segmental cart archway. The further right barns are not of interest.
