Description

Greystoke Pillar is a monument dating from the late 18th century, commissioned by the 11th Duke of Norfolk. It is constructed from reeded pink sandstone ashlar. The structure features a square base and plinth that includes an earlier carved coat-of-arms of the Howard family, associated with Greystoke Castle. At the top, there is a tapering octagonal obelisk adorned with a fillet. One side of the pillar has an Ordnance Survey bench mark.
