Description

Garth House is a house dating from the 1830s. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar with rusticated quoins, a dentilled cornice, and a slate roof, featuring brick chimney stacks. The house has a garden front and an entrance front. The garden front is two storeys and three bays wide, featuring two projecting canted bay windows with a moulded cornice and blocking course, and sash windows with and without glazing bars. The entrance front is two and a half storeys high and includes a prostyle Ionic porch with a panelled door and glazed fanlight. Sash windows with glazing bars have moulded surrounds, with the central windows featuring projecting hoods on console brackets. A pedimented gable is present. A single-storey extension of contemporary date adjoins the right side of the building.
