Description
South Lodge is a villa built in 1831, featuring a square plan and constructed from coursed stone with ashlar dressings. It stands two storeys high with overhanging eaves that are boarded, and a hipped slate roof. The south front showcases a central entrance with double doors and a fanlight, flanked by sidelights, all beneath a porch supported by four stout, unfluted Doric columns, which are topped with a high frieze and cornice. The ground floor includes two 12-paned and two 15-paned sash windows, while the upper floor has five 12-paned sash windows. At the rear, there is an earlier wing that is lower in height but has been altered. Inside, the villa features a staircase with iron balusters.
