Description
Kokied Cottage is a house that was formerly used as stables, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed from a mix of cobbles and sandstone rubble, featuring flush calciferous sandstone quoins and dressings, and has a graduated sandstone slate roof, partly made of Welsh slate on one side. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with an additional three bays under a common roof at right angles. The stable, which has a lower roof line, completes a U-shape.
The front entrance features a top-glazed five-panel door set in a plain painted stone surround, with a similar blocked entrance to the left. The ground floor has sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone surrounds, and those windows include shutter hinge brackets. The roof slopes down to a single storey at the left end bay. The rear wall has an entrance and windows that have been altered in the 20th century. The stable section includes a plank door and a loft above, both framed in plain stone surrounds.
