Description
Blencogo School is a building dating from 1854, marked by the inscription GMD (George Dixon) on the chimney breast, along with a shield of arms on another chimney breast. The school is constructed of hammer-dressed red sandstone and features a graduated slate roof with coped gables and candlestick chimney stacks. It is a single-storey structure with three bays.
The gabled porch has an original plank door, supported by ornate cast brackets and fitments. The central large gabled window has diamond panes and consists of four lights, topped with a quatrefoil and hoodmould. To the left, there is a similar two-light window, and chimney breasts flank the central window. An open stone bellcote is positioned to the right of the roof. Additionally, there is a further gabled stone porch to the left, which includes a rear doorway. A 20th-century extension to the left is not of interest.
