Description

This milestone, located east of Street, is likely from the early 19th century and was used for the Carlisle to Cockermouth Turnpike. It is made of whitewashed red sandstone and features a rounded top. On the front, there is a cast-iron plate inscribed with "CARLISLE 10 MILES" and "COCKERMOUTH 15½ MILES," along with a bench mark above.
