Description
The eastern range of buildings on Lord Egremont's estate includes the estate office and the office of the Westmorland Green Slate Company. This structure, which is Victorian and dates from 1904, is two storeys tall and constructed of stone. It features sash windows and a Victorian Gothic doorway, flanked by pointed windows. There are three windows with labels and two rectangular bay windows, one of which is dated 1904 and has a gabled top. The building adjoins the Gatehouse and has continuous internal access. It is located next to the Flag Tower in the southeast corner of the outer ward, which is medieval and linked internally with the estate office, containing important documents and records. The inhabited parts of Cockermouth Castle form a group with the uninhabited parts.
