Description

No. 8 Castlegate is a late 18th century building that stands two storeys tall. It features a cement-rendered exterior and a slate roof, with projecting stone quoins that have V joints. The entrance includes a six-panelled door set within plain stone architraves, accessed by steps that are flanked by original wrought iron railings. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows, while the upper floor has three sash windows, all of which include glazing bars. This property is part of a group that includes Nos. 2 to 10 (even) and Nos. 1 to 13 (odd), along with Nos. 14 to 18 (even) and Nos. 30 and 30A Market Place.
