Description

The Co-operative Store, established in 1856, is a stuccoed building that likely dates from a later period. It stands three storeys tall, featuring a pedimented center adorned with ornamentation and a balustraded parapet. The ground floor has modern shop fronts, while the upper two storeys are characterized by paired Composite pilasters that are partly fluted, along with a top cornice and frieze. The first floor displays a window arrangement of two, three, and two, each topped with scroll cornices. The Tangier Street front has four windows on each floor. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 4, 5, Whittle's Furniture Store, The Globe Hotel, and Nos 105 and 105A.
