Description
Newby West Farmhouse and Barn is a farmhouse and barn dating from the early 19th century. The building features Flemish bond brick walls, a slate roof with gables, and brick chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The farmhouse has a chamfered stone plinth course and an entrance surround with squared pilasters, a plain entablature, and a moulded cornice. The entrance includes a four-panel door and a glazed fanlight. The windows have flat brick heads and stone sills, with sashes that include glazing bars. The barn, which is listed as part of the property, is located to the right of the farmhouse and is connected by an arched farmyard entrance made of sandstone quoining and a garden wall with a wooden lintel. The barn has English bond brick walls on a rubble plinth course, small glazed windows, slit vents, and plank doors.
