Description
Low Leys Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an adjoining scullery and courtyard entrance. The property's deeds date back to 1580, but the current structure was built in the 17th and 18th centuries, with later additions and alterations. The exterior features wet-dashed rubble with a cornice, and a 20th-century concrete-tiled roof with outshuts at the rear, along with rendered chimneys. The building is two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. The central door is flanked by paired sash windows, with three additional sashes above. The two-bay scullery extension to the right includes a plank door in a chamfered surround and a sash window on each floor to the right. All sash windows have glazing bars and are set in stone surrounds. A large wagon arch leads to the outer courtyard on the right, featuring a plank loft door and a small fixed window above, with stone steps to the loft on the left in the passage. Inside, there are some 18th-century panelled doors and heavy beaming, with the main beams on the ground floor supported by turned wooden columns behind window mullions. The rear features stone stairs with late 17th-century splats and square, panelled newels leading to the handrail.
