Description
The gateway at Lamplugh Hall, dated 1595, features a coat-of-arms and the name IOHN LAMPLVGH on a 20th-century facsimile panel above the entrance. It is constructed from tooled ashlar stone. The central entrance showcases a continuous roll-moulding and a flattened, pointed head beneath a rectangular hood-mould. The structure is topped with a corbie-stepped parapet that has a datestone at its apex. At the rear, there is an 18th-century sundial inscribed with "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi," which includes a brass gnomon set in a carved sun's disc with Roman numerals on the sides.
