Description

The planting stone at Althorp, dating from around 1917, is made of limestone ashlar. It is a rectangular block topped with a moulded head. The stone features an inscription that reads, "This avenue was planted by Charles Robert Earl Spencer K.G. in the year of Our Lord 1917." The stone is surrounded by railings that have spikes.
