Description

The planting stone at Althorp, dated around 1603, is made of limestone ashlar. It is a rectangular block set on a plinth and features an inscription that reads, "This wood was planted by Robert Lord Spencer in the years of our Lord 1602 and 1603," along with the Spencer coat of arms above the inscription. The stone is surrounded by railings topped with spikes.
