Description

The Althorp garden temple is a summer-house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of timber and features a lead roof. The structure has an open front supported by two reeded wooden columns and two similar pilasters with Doric capitals, which hold up an entablature topped with a pediment. The rear of the building is made of plain brick. Inside, there is a fielded panelled dado with pilasters on the back wall. This garden temple was relocated from the gardens of Admiralty House by the fifth Earl Spencer.
