Description
The south entrance to Crick Tunnel is a tunnel entrance built in the early 19th century, designed by engineer James Barnes. It is constructed of blue and red brick, featuring stone coping. The arch is framed by flat buttresses, and the flanking brick walls curve slightly forward, ending with similar buttresses. In the center of the parapet, there is a blocked opening with a flat arched brick frame. A brick string course runs along the base of the parapet. The tunnel itself was opened in 1814 and measures 1,528 yards in length.
