Description
Mile post located on the Grand Union Canal, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features the inscription "G.J.C. Co. Leicester 38 miles". The Grand Union Canal was authorized by an Act of Parliament in 1810, with the Watford section opening in 1814. In 1893-1894, the Leicester line of the canal was taken over by the Grand Junction Canal Company.
