Description
Blisworth House is a house dated 1702, which was later doubled in depth and had its roof pitch altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered stone with ironstone dressings and features a slate roof with brick end and ridge stacks. The house has a three-unit plan, now double-depth, and is three storeys high with a seven-window range. The central 20th-century door is set in a moulded stone surround topped with a moulded stone cornice. There are 2-light windows on all floors, each with moulded stone sills, surrounds, and keyblocks. The building has quoins, a moulded first-floor string course, and a datestone above the door inscribed "P/WE 1702" in an upright oval moulded stone surround. To the left, there is a single-storey extension. The early 19th-century range at the rear features 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched heads. Inside, there is an ogee stop-chamfered spine beam and a fine dog-leg staircase leading from the ground floor to the attic, complete with turned balusters. The interior also includes a Tudor-arched stone fireplace and early 19th-century vein marble chimneypieces.
