Description

The Old Rectory is a house that was formerly a rectory, dated 1841. It is built from limestone ashlar with slate roofs and features stone end and ridge stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range.

The central gabled porch has a double-chamfered stone doorway with a four-centred head and double-leaf doors, which include cut spandrels and a hood mould. There are octagonal pinnacles at the corners, and double-chamfered one-light windows on the sides, along with a stone-coped parapet and gable that includes a datestone. The porch is flanked by narrow sash windows with double-chamfered stone surrounds.

The bays on either side of the porch project forward and feature chamfered stone mullion and transom windows on the ground floor, and two-light chamfered stone mullion windows on the first floor, all of which have pairs of small sashes and hood moulds. There is also a small sash window with a chamfered stone surround in the attic gable. The building has a plinth, a first-floor string course, and bracketed stone eaves.

To the right, there is a single-storey wing with three windows. Inside, the property has an open well staircase with simple turned balusters, carved tread ends, and a ramped and wreathed mahogany handrail.
