Description
This is a cottage from the 18th century located on Furnace Lane in Nether Heyford. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone, which has been painted, and likely includes some cob-walling. The roof is thatched, with brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The cottage has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high, featuring a three-window range and built on a slope.
The upper right end has a part-glazed plank door with a pegged wood surround and wood lintel. There are two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, except for a small square window on the ground floor to the left. Two roof dormers are positioned to the right of centre. The gables are stone-coped and include kneelers. Inside, the cottage has chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
