Description
Ash Tree Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is built of coursed squared ironstone and features a thatched roof with brick ridge and end stacks. The house has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range. There are 20th-century glazed doors located at the far left and to the right of the centre, both with wood lintels. The door to the right extends over a three-light casement window to the left, while the other windows are two-light casements on both the ground and first floors, all with wood lintels. The first-floor windows are set in gabled dormers. The gables are stone-coped with kneelers, and there is a 20th-century single-storey extension to the right. Notably, there is graffiti of a fox scratched into two stones at the front. Inside, the cottage features chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a damaged diamond-stop-chamfered bressumer. The building is included for its group value.
