Description
This is a cottage located at 39 Church Street, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. It is built of coursed squared limestone and features a thatched roof with a brick ridge stack, which was once located at the right end. The cottage has a two-unit plan and is two stories high with a two-window range. There is a 20th-century plank door to the right, topped with a wooden lintel. The windows are two-light casements on both the ground and first floors, with the upper windows set in eyebrow dormers. To the far right, there is a lower two-story brick extension, also thatched. Inside, the cottage features diamond-stop-chamfered spine beams, a canbered-diamond stop-chamfered bressumer above the open fireplace, and a collar-truss roof.
