Description

This is a late 17th-century house located on Church Street, Nether Heyford, which has been divided into two dwellings. The house is constructed of ironstone, banded with limestone, and has a slate roof with brick end stacks. It originally had two main rooms, with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front of the house has a two-window arrangement over two storeys and an attic. An old plank door is located on the far left, with a stone lintel and key block, while a 20th-century door is in the centre. There are three-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, each with stone lintels and key blocks. The cellar window sill on the right has been lowered to create a doorway. The right-hand gable end facing the street has a chamfered plinth, ironstone quoins, and kneelers from the original stone-coped gables. A lower, two-storey extension built of coursed squared ironstone is located on the left. Inside, the house features stop-chamfered spine beams. One of the dwellings, number 51, has an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. The building is included on the heritage list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
