Description

The Springs is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a straw thatch roof, along with brick stacks at the ends and on the ridge. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys.

On the right side, there is a 19th-century part-glazed door set within a 20th-century porch, which is located at the angle with a projecting wing on the front far right. To the left of the centre, there is an irregularly glazed, 2-light wave-moulded stone mullion window with a hood mould. The other windows are casements with wooden lintels. The first floor features 2-light windows in eyebrow dormers, which have moulded stone jambs from the original stone mullion windows. The gables are stone-coped and include kneelers.

Inside, the main ground floor room has chamfered cross beams and an open fireplace with chamfered bressumers.
