Description
The war memorial is a memorial cross located on Flore High Street, built in 1923 from Duston stone. It features a triangular shape with chamfered corners that transitions into a hexagonal pinnacle, which displays the Military Cross in white marble. On the south side, there is a red granite plaque inscribed with the names of those commemorated. Above this plaque is a sundial with a rising sun and the inscription "Post Tenebris." The other two sides of the memorial feature the crest of the Royal Artillery and the arms of the Northamptonshire Regiment. This memorial honors those associated with the parish who died in World War I and is set on a stepped plinth. The unveiling ceremony was conducted by Earl Spencer on September 30th, 1923. The design is noted for being unusual and is inspired by the Eleanor Cross at Geddington.
