Description

44 High Street is an 18th-century house constructed from coursed squared ironstone, featuring a thatched roof and brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a single-window range. The central entrance is a 20th-century door with an overlight, set in a moulded wood surround topped with a straight hood supported by wrought iron brackets, and is accessed by two stone steps. To the right of the lower step is a foot-scraper.

To the left of the entrance is a canted bay window with a 16-pane sash window at the front and 8-pane sashes on the sides. To the right of the door, there is a 16-pane horned sash window, and above the door is a similar unhorned sash window, both featuring timber lintels. A two-light cellar window is located below the right window. The house has a chamfered plinth, quoins, and stone-coped gables with kneelers.

Attached to the left is a single-storey thatched range built from coursed squared ironstone, which includes a side door and a double-leaf garage door. To the right, there is a 20th-century swimming pool range with a concealed flat roof and skylights. Inside, the house features chamfered spine beams, a 4-centred arched stone fireplace, a winder staircase with splat balusters leading to the landing, several old plank doors, and a collar truss roof.
