Description

This is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, which was significantly altered and refronted in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and has a slate roof with stone and brick stacks. The house is two storeys and has an attic, with three bays to the front. The symmetrical front features a central doorway with a straight keystoned arch, a rectangular fanlight, and a partly glazed six-panel door. Sash windows with original glazing bars are present; the ground floor windows have straight keystoned arches, while those on the first floor are in plain gabled dormers with wooden casements. A right-hand extension, dating from the 18th century and built of rendered brick, has one bay with a sash window and gabled dormers. A gabled projection at the rear contains a dog-leg staircase. Inside, a first-floor room has chamfered beams. A ground-floor room features a mid-18th century panelled dado, a panelled plaster ceiling, and an 18th-century corner fireplace with a panelled wooden over-mantel.
