Description
The Old Forge is a house dating from 1749, constructed of squared coursed lias with a thatched roof. It features a 2-unit plan with an outshut and stands two storeys high, including an attic. The front has a two-window range of casements with leaded lights and wooden lintels. A central plank and braced door, also with a wooden lintel, provides the entrance. The gable ends have ashlar parapets and kneelers, and there are two brick stacks at the ends. A date stone is located on the right gable. At the rear, there is a brick outshut with a catslide roof, and a 19th-century forge building is attached to the left side. Inside, there is a dogleg stair, some original doors and hinges, and a collar truss roof with butt purlins.
