Description
1, 2, and 3 Welford Road are three houses built in 1848 by E. Blore. They are constructed of squared coursed lias with ashlar dressings and have a plain tiled roof. The buildings are arranged in an L-plan, with each of the two units being two stories high and featuring a three-window range of casements that have ashlar surrounds and cast iron diamond panes. There are two entrances located between the windows at the front and one entrance to the side, all featuring four-centred heads and ribbed doors. The end bay of the structure breaks forward and is topped with gables, while the center window has a false dormer. Rebuilt brick stacks are present at both ends. The datestone displays the Spencer Arms in the flanking gables. This building is part of a planned layout that includes ten houses and accompanying wash houses. The interior has not been inspected.
