Description
The wash house located between numbers 3 and 4 on Welford Road in Chapel Brampton was built around 1848 by E. Blore. It is constructed from squared coursed lias with ashlar dressings and features a plain tiled roof. The building has a one-unit plan and is a single storey in height. Notable architectural details include a large three-light casement window with a transom, cast iron diamond panes, and an ashlar surround located in the end gable. There is also a brick and stone stack at one end and a plank door on the side. This wash house is part of a planned layout that includes ten houses and their accompanying wash houses.
