Description
The Sibbertoft war memorial, unveiled in 1920, is dedicated to those who fell in the First World War, along with its associated steps and railings. The memorial is made of stone and features a foliated wheel cross on a tapering octagonal pillar, set on a square-plan plinth and a two-stepped octagonal base. The front (east) elevation of the plinth is inscribed with ‘1914-1919 / TO OUR / GLORIOUS DEAD’, while the names of the fallen are listed on the side elevations. It is prominently situated at the junction of Church Street and Berkeley Street within a grassed area that has a segmental plan, surrounded to the north, east, and south by arched iron fencing. Access to the memorial is from the east via six splayed stone steps, which are flanked by plinth walls on either side.
