Description
No 1 Cheyne Walk is a building dating from around 1840, which forms half of a symmetrical front with No 8 Spencer Parade. The exterior is made of ashlar that has been painted to resemble stucco, and it features a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate. The building has two storeys and includes quoins, a plinth, floor and sill bands, a bracketed cornice, and a blocking course.
In the central block, there are two sash windows with architrave surrounds and a central dummy window. The entrance features a door with a rectangular fanlight that has glazing bars, all framed by an architrave surround beneath a cornice supported by consoles. To the right, there is a two-storey canted bay with attics, while the left side has a three-window extension and a modern two-window wing.
No 1 is part of a group with Nos 1 to 8 Spencer Parade.
