Description
The Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been converted into one dwelling, built around 1845. The structure features coursed squared ironstone with limestone dressings, brick side and rear walls, and a slate roof topped with a central stone stack. Designed in the Tudor style, it stands two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays. The gabled central bay is highlighted by quoins. The doorways in the outer bays on the ground floor have 4-centred stone arches with square hoods and plank doors. There are two 2-light stone mullioned windows in the centre, which are covered by a continuous stone hood, and similar windows are found on the first floor. An attic window with a plain stone frame is located in the gable, featuring a single light. All windows are fitted with diamond-shaped leaded panes. The interior has not been inspected. This building was originally an estate cottage constructed by Colonel Henry Hely Hutchinson and previously displayed a stone plaque with the initials H.H.H.
