Description
This is a late 17th-century farmhouse located on the Helmdon Road, Weston. A datestone reading W.I.R/1694 is present. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate roof and has brick and stone stacks. It is arranged in an L-shape, with two storeys and an attic, originally consisting of three bays. The front of the house features a central doorway with a moulded stone frame, housing a six-panel door with an overlight, surmounted by a flat wooden hood supported on scroll brackets. There are three-light windows with moulded stone frames and flat mullions on either side of the doorway. Similar windows are found in the outer bays on the first floor, and a similar two-light window is centrally located. Stone mullioned windows, two- and three-light, are on the left and right sides, with the first-floor window on the left being blocked. A wing extends from the left side at the rear; it is also late 17th century and built of similar materials, with two storeys and two bays. The rear wing has a doorway on its right bay, also with a moulded stone frame and a six-panel door with a wooden hood on scroll brackets. A three-light window with a moulded stone frame and flat stone mullions is located to the left, and a similar window sits above the entrance on the first floor, alongside a two-light window. The interior remains uninspected.
