Description
Lovell's Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the early 18th century and was extended by three bays to the left around 1840. The two right bays are constructed from coursed limestone rubble mixed with ironstone, featuring squared ironstone quoins, while the three left bays are made of coursed limestone rubble. The house has a slate roof and stone and rendered stacks. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and consists of five bays. The entrance is located in the second bay from the left and features a wooden lintel above a six-panel door with an overlight and a flat wooden hood. On either side of the entrance are three-light casement windows with rendered lintels, and there is a similar two-light window in the right bay. The first floor has three-light casement windows with rendered lintels in the left bay and the second bay from the left, while the other first-floor windows are two-light casements with wooden lintels. The gable ends are coped with kneelers, and there is a moulded stone stack to the right. Some of the rear windows have old iron casements. Inside, the house was remodelled in the 19th century, with fireplaces and boxed-in beams from that period, but it retains an old winder stair.
