Description
The coach house to Little Houghton House, now used as a garage, dates from the early 19th century. It is built of coursed squared ironstone and features a hipped roof covered with 20th-century ridged tiles. The structure is rectangular, consisting of a single storey with eight bays. There are stable doors at both the far left and far right ends, each with overlights and diamond stop-chamfered wood lintels. To the right of the left end door, there is another stable door, and to the left of the right end door, a 20th-century window, both with similar wood lintels. These elements are flanked by a four-bay elliptical-arched arcade supported by plain square piers. The coach house faces a stable block across a stable yard. An attached stone-coped wall projects forward from the left corner, made of ironstone ashlar, with a pier beside the corner topped with a moulded stone cap. At the other end, there is a taller panelled gatepier with a similar cap, framing the entrance to the stable yard.
