Description

Bridge House, originally a public house, dates from the late 18th century with additions made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and brick, with a tile roof, brick ridge stacks, and end stacks. The house follows a two-unit through-passage plan, extended by a single unit at each end. It has a 3-window front. The central door is a 4-panel part-glazed design, set within a moulded wooden surround and topped by a hood on brackets. There are 3-light casement windows with timber lintels to either side of the ground and first floors. The left-hand bay is of brick and contains a single-storey canted bay window with 9-pane sashes on each side. The right-hand side of the house has a 2-light casement window to the ground floor and a 3-light casement above, both with timber lintels. Brick eaves finish the exterior. A single-storey outhouse lies to the rear, its corrugated iron roof replacing what was originally thatch and it retains a collar truss roof. Inside, the house features chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, fitted settles in the bay window, and a collar truss roof. The building was formerly the White Lion public house and was once thatched.
