Description

The Sycamores is a house, reputedly dating back to around 1648, but largely rebuilt in the mid-18th century. The exterior is limestone and ironstone, with a 20th-century plain-tile roof. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, the house now has a three-window front. The windows are 19th-century casements, set beneath wooden lintels. The central entrance door, also beneath a wooden lintel, is flanked by a flat, 19th-century hood. Ashlar gable parapets with kneelers and brick stacks are at the ends of the building. A one-unit, one-and-a-half storey extension to the left features a 20th-century door and window. The gable to the right has a sash window with glazing bars on the first floor. Inside, there are some central ceiling beams and a panelled window seat in the room to the left of the entrance.
