Description

The war memorial, located approximately 30 meters west of the Church of St. Mary, was built in the early 20th century and is made of limestone ashlar. It features an octagonal shaft divided into three stages, supported by a plinth and two steps. The lower stage is adorned with leaf decoration at the corners, while the second stage includes pilasters with three niches, each containing figures in alternating panels. The upper stage has plain pilasters with scroll feet and is decorated with swags and leaf motifs in the panels. Moulded cornices separate each stage, and the shaft is inscribed with the words "to keep in mind those from this Town who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1919." The names of the fallen are listed in panels on the lower stage and plinth, and there is an inscribed tablet on the middle stage that reads, "Their name liveth for evermore."
